The S&P 500 and Dow industrials opened mostly higher on Wednesday, however a persistent selloff in the technology sector weighed on the Nasdaq Composite. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +1.07% opened 136 points, or 0.6%, higher to 23,984. The S&P 500 index SPX, +1.38% gained 7 points, or 0.3% to 2,620. Meanwhile the Nasdaq Composite COMP, +1.64% declined 6 points, or 0.1% to 7,002 at the open. Among the worst performers on the S&P 500, Amazon.com AMZN, +1.11% dropped 3%, as investors continued to dump high-flying technology stocks.
