Royal Dutch Shell Reportedly Doubles LNG Purchase From Calcasieu Pass

Royal Dutch Shell (RDS.A, RDS.B) agreed to double its liquefied natural gas ( LNG ) purchase from 10 million metric tons/year (mt/year) from the Calcasieu Pass LNG facility in Louisiana, according to media sources.

With this revised agreement, Shell's total offtake commitment from the facility stands at 2 million mt/year over a 20-year period.

The additional commitment from Shell represents a "significant validation" in the company's ambition to start construction on the facility later this year, Venture co-CEOs Mike Sabel and Bob Pender said in a statement.
